How to check a brand deal for scams and unclear terms

Verify the sender through an independent official channel, read the full deal details and question requests for money, passwords or account recovery codes. A logo or familiar brand name is not proof of authorization. Pause whenever the identity, compensation or requested permissions cannot be explained clearly.

Verify the person independently

Check the sender's actual email domain and the destination of each link. Search for the brand's official website yourself and use a contact method from that site to verify an unfamiliar offer. A copied logo, profile image or signature is easy to reproduce.

An agency can legitimately represent a brand, but you should be able to establish its role. Ask which company signs the agreement, approves deliverables and pays invoices. Keep the names consistent across the deal details, contract and payment instructions.

Requests that deserve a pause

No single checklist detects every scam. A valid-looking contract or website is not enough by itself. When a message claims to be from LGI, contact support through the address on LGI's official site if you are unsure.

  • Payment to unlock a supposed sponsorship, especially through irreversible methods.
  • Passwords, two-factor codes, recovery phrases or unnecessary account access.
  • Pressure to act immediately without a written scope.
  • A payment larger than agreed followed by a request to return the difference.
  • Unexplained software downloads or a request to disable security controls.
  • A familiar product name with no verifiable relationship to the sender.

Distinguish fraud from an unfavorable offer

A very low fee or broad usage license is not automatically a scam, but it may be a poor agreement for you. Confirm the fee, currency, deliverables, revisions, exclusivity and payment trigger. Ask what happens if the campaign is canceled after you begin work.

LGI supports different collaboration workflows. Platform-managed, affiliate and direct arrangements have different delivery and settlement responsibilities. Do not assume every listed opportunity has the same payment protection; review the workflow and agreed terms.

What to do if something looks wrong

When asking LGI support about a campaign, include its public URL and a short description of the concern. Never include passwords or authentication codes in a support message.

  • Stop sending money or account credentials.
  • Preserve the messages, URLs and relevant transaction records.
  • Contact the genuine company through an independently obtained channel.
  • If an account was exposed, use the platform's official recovery process.
  • Report suspected fraud to the relevant platform and, in the US, the FTC reporting service.

Common questions

Does a real brand logo prove an offer is legitimate?

No. Verify the sender and its authorization independently. Logos and screenshots can be copied.
