When a fixed fee may fit
A defined fee can fit work with meaningful planning, filming and editing costs. It helps separate the creative service from uncertain sales. It does not remove the need to check approval criteria, payment dates, cancellation and the rights you grant.
Look closely at total campaign budgets versus individual creator fees. Confirm whether the payment covers distribution on your account, brand-owned assets or both. A fee for one organic post should not silently become an unlimited advertising license.
When affiliate promotion may fit
Affiliate work may suit an ongoing recommendation that is relevant to your audience and does not require an uneconomic production investment. Understand eligible revenue, attribution, returns and settlement before evaluating the headline rate.
Content can continue attracting viewers, but a link does not guarantee recurring income. Products, rates and program rules can change. Keep your recommendation accurate and update expired offers.
Document hybrid terms separately
On LGI, compensation type and collaboration workflow describe different things. A paid opportunity can include commission, while the confirmed collaboration determines the next delivery or settlement steps. Read both before proceeding.
- The fixed production fee and its payment trigger.
- The commission rate and eligible revenue basis.
- Attribution and reversal rules.
- Which content and usage rights are included.
- Who handles each part of settlement.
Be clear with your audience
US-facing viewers should be able to understand when you are paid or can earn from a recommendation. State the relationship close to the endorsement or link and use the relevant platform tools. Do not present a commission-driven recommendation as independent if the commercial relationship is material.
Common questions
Can I receive a sponsorship fee and affiliate commission?
Yes, if the agreement provides both. Confirm each compensation component and the conditions that apply to it.
